4.2 Quake Rattles Central Coast

CAMBRIA, Calif. —
A moderate earthquake rattled windows in the Central Coast communities of Cambria and San Simeon this morning, but no damage was reported.
The quake had a preliminary magnitude 4.2, said Greg Anderson of the UC Berkeley seismographic station. The temblor was rated at 4.0 by the National Earthquake Information Center in Golden, Colo.
The quake, felt at 6:59 a.m., was centered in the coastal range about two miles east of San Simeon, home of the famed Hearst Castle, Anderson said.
