CAMARILLO : 400 Acres of Brush Burned to Reduce the Risk of Fires
The Ventura County Fire Department conducted a controlled burn on 400 acres of brush next to the Pacific Coast Highway, authorities said Monday.
The controlled burn was begun at 10 a.m. Monday on the Broome Ranch between Potrero Road and the Pacific Coast Highway near Camarillo State Hospital, and ended Monday evening, dispatcher Jackie Noel said.
Firefighters monitored the blaze, which was set to ease the possibility of a major brush fire in the area later in the summer, Noel said.
