WEEKEND TV : Music Shows Sing Out in Summertime

Music fills the hot summer air.

“A Celebration at Ford’s Theater,” tonight at 10 on ABC (7)(10)(42), features Vanessa Williams, Barry Manilow, Rita Moreno and David Copperfield performing in a variety show originating from the historic theater in Washington. President and Mrs. Bush are expected to be among those in the audience.

On Sunday at 7 p.m. on KVCR Channel 24, 8 p.m. on KCET Channel 28 and KPBS Channel 15, this season’s first “Evening at Pops” unites father and daughter singers John and Bonnie Raitt on television. They will each perform solo and as a duet. Fiddler Mark O’Connor will entertain as well.

And “Kenny Loggins: Going Home,” Sunday at 9 p.m. on the Disney Channel, uses the Grand Canyon as a backdrop for a concert featuring such hits as “Celebrate Me Home,” “Danny’s Song,” “House at Pooh Corner” and “Your Mama Don’t Dance” as well as selections from the veteran pop star’s latest album.
