Soccer Fans, Davis Foes Get Together on Downey

Inducting Raider owner Al Davis into the NFL Hall of Fame is a colossal farce and a crass hypocrisy of the first order. Mike Downey’s asinine puff piece (July 5), in which Downey practically deifies this piece of sludge, is but another example of the ongoing tiresome and totally fraudulent propaganda perpetuated by Downey and other like-minded cronies at The Times.
The low-class/no-class Raider organization pretty much personifies the character of its self-important owner. Since when has mere longevity in the league entitled someone such as Davis to a special status?
Al Davis is nothing more than a vile, double-dealing, money-grubbing megalomaniac who deserves a pillory and not a pedestal.
