LA MESA : Woman Found Dead in Her Bedroom

An elderly La Mesa woman was found murdered in her house Saturday after police were called to the residence by a worried friend who had been unable to contact the woman, a spokesman said.

Police said they found the woman dead in a bedroom, an apparent victim of an assault but with no signs of sexual mistreatment. While windows to the house were open, there was no evidence of forced entry, police said. There are no suspects and the identity of the woman is being withheld until relatives can be notified, police said.
