Prospective candidates for the boards of the Conejo, Pleasant Valley and Rancho Simi recreation and park districts have begun pulling nomination papers to get on the November ballot, officials said.

In the Conejo Recreation and Park District board, the seats held by Mark Jacobsen and George Lange will be up for election. The two incumbents were the only people to have picked up election filing papers by Wednesday afternoon, a district official said.

In Camarillo’s Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District, incumbent John Dell’Amico was the only prospective candidate for the district board to have pulled his nomination papers by Wednesday afternoon, an official said.

In addition to Dell’Amico’s, the terms of board members Melville Vincent and William Marsden also expire in November.

There are also three seats up for election to the board of the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District, which runs programs in Simi Valley and surrounding unincorporated areas, including Oak Park. Those seats are now occupied by Chairwoman Debi Schultze and board members Bonnie Carpenter and Rick Fields.

Schultze, Carpenter and past board member Don Funk were the only prospective candidates to pull papers in the first three days of this week. Funk served on the board from 1976 to 1990, when he chose not to run for reelection.

The deadline for filing nomination papers is 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7. Candidates for park district boards must either be registered voters in the district’s jurisdiction or own property in the jurisdiction and are registered to vote somewhere in the state.
