Dennis Cook appears to have found a home in the Cleveland Indians’ rotation.

Cook made another strong case for himself Monday night at Minneapolis, pitching the Indians past the Minnesota Twins, 5-1.

Cook (3-5) gave up one run and eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out four and walked none.

All season, Cook has bounced between the rotation and the bullpen. But he is 2-0 in his four starts since June 28, and in the last three, his earned-run average is 1.77 in 20 1/3 innings.

Steve Olin pitched the final two innings for his 17th save. The Indians broke it open with three runs in the ninth against relievers Bob Kipper and Carl Willis.

Baltimore 3, Chicago 2--Tim Hulett singled home the winning run during the 12th inning as the Orioles won at Chicago.

Randy Milligan, whose RBI single capped a two-run rally during the ninth, drew a leadoff walk during the 12th from Roberto Hernandez (3-2). Joe Orsulak followed with a double and, one out later, Hulett singled.

Pat Clements (1-0) pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings for the victory. Gregg Olson got three outs for his 23rd save.

Charlie Hough, seeking his 200th victory, shut out Baltimore on four hits for eight innings. But Scott Radinsky and Bobby Thigpen could not hold a 2-0 lead during the ninth, and an error and hit batter set up RBI singles by Glenn Davis and Milligan.

Milwaukee 5, Texas 4--B.J. Surhoff hit a bases-loaded sacrifice fly during the ninth inning to give the Brewers a victory over the Rangers at Milwaukee.

The Brewers, who scored three times during the eighth to tie the score, won the game after Greg Vaughn, who homered earlier, led off with a walk from Edwin Nunez (1-3).

Robin Yount followed with a bloop single off second baseman Jeff Huson’s glove. The hit moved Yount into sole possession of 18th place on the all-time hit list with 2,965.

Daryl Hamilton walked to load the bases, and Dante Bichette flied out to short left before Surhoff hit a medium fly to center field. Vaughn easily beat a wide throw from Juan Gonzalez.

Boston 5, Kansas City 3--Tom Brunansky doubled, tripled and drove in three runs at Kansas City to help Paul Quantrill win his major league debut.

Quantrill, 6-8 at triple-A Pawtucket, relieved starter Danny Darwin starting the sixth and pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings. He gave up two hits and struck out three.

The Royals had runners at the corners with two out in the eighth when Greg Harris relieved Quantrill and got Mike Macfarlane on a ground ball. Jeff Reardon, Boston’s third pitcher of the ninth inning, got one out for his 19th save.

Brunansky, with 13 RBIs in his last seven games, hit an RBI double during the sixth and a two-run triple during the seventh that made rookie right-hander Steve Shifflett (1-2) a loser for the second day in a row.

Detroit 6, Seattle 4--Travis Fryman’s two-run double fueled a four-run seventh inning for the Tigers at Seattle.

Walt Terrell (4-8), who made his first start since May 6 after 17 relief outings, gave up seven hits, three walks and three strikeouts in six innings. Terrell has won five in a row against Seattle.

New York 1, Oakland 0--Shawn Hillegas (1-3) pitched his first complete game in 45 major league starts, giving up five hits in shutting out the Athletics at Oakland.
