Forty Niner Days Wins by 3 1/2 Lengths

Forty Niner Days, sent off as the 1-5 wagering favorite, romped to a front-running victory in Thursday’s $55,000 feature race on the turf at Hollywood Park.

Ridden by Corey Nakatani, Forty Niner Days finished 3 1/2 lengths ahead of Fanatic Boy in the one-mile race for 4-year-olds and up.

Greensmith was third, another five lengths behind, and it was another five lengths back to Qasar, last in the four-horse field.

Forty Niner Days, trained by Roger Stein, paid $2.60 and $2.10. Fanatic Boy, an Argentine-bred runner ridden by Chris McCarron and also carrying 121, returned $2.10. There was no show wagering.

Greensmith, bred in Great Britain, carried 113 pounds and was ridden by Goncalino Almeida.

The victory was worth $30,250 and raised Forty Niner Days’ career earnings to $822,152.
