One-hundred and twenty children who missed out when the Mike Dunleavy basketball camp was canceled recently are receiving free tickets to watch the Los Angeles Lakers play--courtesy of the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Clippers are showering $150 worth of tickets on each of the youngsters, along with free admission to four basketball clinics, free admission to the annual slam-dunk contest and a free autographed Clippers team picture. Included in the package of goodies are two tickets to the Clippers’ Nov. 6 season opener against their cross-town rivals, the Lakers.

The Clippers put the package together Friday after reading about the youngsters’ plight in The Times. After Dunleavy decided to leave the Lakers to coach the Milwaukee Bucks, the basketball camp was canceled.

The $275 fee paid by each child was not refunded because Sports-world, the company that set up the Dunleavy camp, subsequently went broke.

Neither Dunleavy nor the Lakers stepped forward to help out the youngsters.
