A Ventura teen-ager who was ordered to stand trial as an adult is scheduled to be arraigned on a murder charge next week after the Ventura County Grand Jury indicted him Thursday for the May 3 killing of a Port Hueneme boy.

Jesus Quintero Conchas, 17, was indicted in connection with the slaying of 16-year-old Jose Lopez Navarro. The grand jury also handed up an indictment against Conchas for assault with a deadly weapon on Jose Luis Villanueva of Oxnard.

Conchas was arrested after the stabbing death of Navarro in Ventura’s Camino Real Park. The two youths were allegedly members of rival gangs.

According to previous testimony, Conchas stabbed Navarro during a fight, then chased him about 100 yards before stabbing him again from behind.

Earlier that day, Ventura police cited Conchas for being in the company of known gang members, a violation of his probation for an undisclosed juvenile offense.

Arraignment is scheduled for Friday before Superior Court Judge James M. McNally.
