Chemical Fire Evacuees Return to Their Homes
Associated Press
OREM, Utah —
Families evacuated because of a fire at a chemical plant returned to their homes Sunday after officials doused the blaze and determined that the burned chemicals were not toxic.
An evening rainstorm Saturday allowed crews to approach the fire at the Parish Chemical Co. plant and douse it with foam.
The fire had been allowed to burn since Friday because of fears of toxicity and possible explosions. About 120 homes and businesses were evacuated.
