A man who fell 35 feet Monday night while rock climbing at Malibu Creek State Park was taken for treatment to Westlake Medical Center, authorities said.

The man, who was not identified, suffered minor to moderate injuries, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Cameron Mooney. The man was expected to be treated and released, said a nursing supervisor at the hospital.

The man, estimated to be 21 years old, was climbing without ropes or harness at Giest Rock, an area popular with climbers, when he fell, Mooney said. The man’s friends contacted authorities, who transported him to the hospital.
