Robber Shoots Woman in Leg

A 37-year-old woman was shot in the leg with a sawed-off shotgun during a robbery in the parking lot of the Glendale Adventist Church, police reported.

Three people were talking in the parking lot Friday night when they were approached by two youths with a shotgun who demanded money, Sgt. Leif Nicolaisen said. Two of the people complied, the sergeant said, but the injured woman--whose name was not released--panicked and began walking away. The youths followed, and one of them told the other to shoot her.

The woman pleaded with the youths not to hurt her, but they fired one round at very close range into her leg and fled, Nicolaisen said.
