Connors Joins McEnroe, Borg in L.A. Event
Would you believe John McEnroe, Bjorn Borg and Jimmy Connors in the same tournament?
No, it’s not the 1981 U.S. Open, the last time those three were in the same event, but next week’s Volvo/Los Angeles tournament will feature a reunion for the three superstars.
Connors, 39, took a wild card into the field Wednesday, joining McEnroe, 33, and Borg, 36, who have combined for 26 Grand Slam singles titles.
Tentative scheduling calls for all three to play their first matches Tuesday at the L.A. Tennis Center at UCLA.
