A 25-year-old San Marcos man drowned in the San Luis Rey River on Saturday when he and his cousin went for an evening swim.
Jesus Ramirez Bedolla of the 600 block of Richmar Avenue in San Marcos was found at the bottom of the river by Oceanside city lifeguard divers at 10:45 p.m. Saturday.
He and his cousin, Miguel Jimenez, had gone swimming near Old Grove Road three hours earlier, a county medical examiner’s spokesman said.
The two men stopped in the middle of the river to rest by floating on their backs, but Ramirez Bedolla couldn’t stay afloat, the spokesman said.
