SAN DIEGO SPORTS ET CETERA : Rookies Get 11-3 Victory

The San Diego Rookies ended pool play at the Continental Amateur Baseball Assn. World Series in Laredo, Tex. Sunday with a 11-3 victory over Texas. Ramona’s Bryan Scott threw four innings of one-hit relief and Jaime Jones of Rancho Bernardo went two for three with three runs scored to lead the Rookies. Catcher Marty Camacho of Mt. Carmel had a solo homer and Ryan Lipsey of Monte Vista went two for three with an RBI. The Rookies finished pool play at 4-1. They begin double-elimination play Tuesday against host Laredo.

Alex Lontayo of Castle Park threw a four-hit shutout as the San Diego Sox improved to 2-0 in pool play with an 8-0 over Sacramento at the AAU Junior Olympics in Rochester, Minn. La Jolla’s Jason Green and David Meyers went four for four and three for three to lead the Sox, Troy Glaus of Carlsbad added two doubles and an RBI.
