The National League allowed a weekend deadline to pass and failed to give a proposed 1993 schedule to the Major League Baseball Players Assn.

The league was required to give a draft to the union by July 1, but the players’ association granted an extension to July 31. It then refused a request for an extension to Aug. 15.

“As of Aug. 1, they’re in noncompliance,” said Eugene Orza, the union’s associate general counsel. “We’ll meet tomorrow to decide how to respond.”

The league said it is examining five proposed schedules, some with realignment and some without.

The Rochester Red Wings of the triple-A International League postponed Monday’s game against Tidewater after a chemical spill at a nearby plant.
