Arsonists burned a popular Logan Heights restaurant Thursday for the second time this summer.
A fire set in the kitchen at Spells’ Bar-B-Que, a 20-year fixture on Imperial Avenue near 31st Street, gutted the building and spread to two dwellings.
The fire broke out shortly after 3:30 a.m., said Capt. Bob Landis of the Metro Arson Strike Team. Gasoline was used to feed the fire, detectives said.
A single-family home and an apartment building were also burned. Damage was estimated at $115,000, Landis said. The buildings were evacuated, and no injuries were reported.
Three adults and four children were being assisted by the American Red Cross.
An arson fire June 17 that damaged Spells’ may be connected to Thursday’s blaze, detectives said. Neighbors said the restaurant has been the target of three other arson attacks during the past year.
