San Diego : NAACP Program to Help Register Voters
The San Diego chapter of the National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People announced a new voter registration program Thursday, hoping to make it easier for people to register by making forms available in almost 200 convenience stores.
Under the program, residents can go to any 7-Eleven and register to vote. The San Diego chapter of the NAACP has distributed 25,000 voter application forms to the 199 stores so far. Officials say their goal is to register 50,000 new voters in the city.
“Many people complain about the political system. In order to change the system, you must get out and vote,” said Frank Jordan, president of the chapter. “Cast your vote for those who have been responsive to the needs of the people of the community.”
The deadline to register is Oct. 5.
