VENTURA : Body Found Days After Fatal Fall

Share

A Ventura man fell to his death from a ladder while painting his hillside home and lay in his driveway for several days before neighbors discovered the body, a deputy coroner said Friday.

Kenneth Theodore Taden, 62, fell off a six-foot-tall ladder that was perched on a second-floor balcony of a house he was building in the 400 block of Lupine Way, Deputy Coroner Craig Stevens said.

An autopsy determined that Taden died from a head injury after falling between 30 and 40 feet to a concrete driveway, Stevens said.

Taden, who lived alone, was a retired data processing technician who had worked at Point Mugu Naval Air Station.

Some neighbors grew suspicious after noticing that a second-floor window on Taden’s house remained open for several days and decided to check his residence, Stevens said. They found Taden’s body in the driveway.

Stevens estimated that Taden had been dead at least two days and possibly as long as four days when his body was found.
