7 Tourists in Yosemite Injured When Oak Tree Limb Falls on Bus
An oak tree limb cracked and fell on an open-air bus touring Yosemite National Park Tuesday afternoon, injuring seven people.
Five of the injured were treated at a local medical center and two remained under observation, according to a National Park Service spokesman. The nature of their injuries was not known but thought to be minor.
The bus was on the final leg of a two-hour tour of the park when it stopped on the main road near the Merced River to observe Yosemite Falls. As the tour guide was speaking, the oak limb cracked and fell across the bus, said park spokesman Bob Clopine.
In 1985, two tourists were killed and nine injured when a 25-foot oak branch crashed onto an open-air tram in Yosemite.
