McDonald’s to Try TV in Restaurants: Consumers hungry for news and entertainment along with burgers and fries will have their plates filled next week when Turner Broadcasting System Inc. launches “McDTV” at McDonald’s restaurants across the country. Turner is beginning an eight-week test of its latest cable network to see if the public has an appetite for television and fast food. The test will begin Monday at McDonald’s in Escondido and Chula Vista, as well as in other cities. On television monitors at the restaurants’ front counters and in dining rooms, the network will offer news and features from Turner’s Cable News Network, entertainment programming from TBS and family-oriented shows produced especially for Oak Brook, Ill.-based McDonald’s.
