A fire that broke out in Lancaster on Friday destroyed a house and 10 cars and burned within feet of a mobile home park, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

It took 36 county firefighters about 35 minutes to contain a one-acre brush fire touched off by the blaze that started in a house in the 100 block of Avenue F-12 at 1:40 p.m., said Robert Lockett, a county fire inspector.

After destroying the house, the flames spread to nearby brush and destroyed a storage shed that housed 10 cars, Lockett said.

The blaze then burned within feet of a park containing 20 mobile homes before it was extinguished.

The fire started in two places inside the house and was of suspicious origin, Lockett said.

A dog was found dead inside the house.

The blaze caused an estimated $150,000 damage to the house and cars, Lockett said.
