First Nose to the Wire Belongs to Plenty Of Grace at Saratoga
Darby Dan Farm’s Plenty of Grace emerged best Friday in a three-horse photo which decided Saratoga’s $126,600 Diana Handicap for fillies and mares aged 3 and up.
With Herb McCauley in the saddle, the 5-year-old mare by Roberto prevailed by a nose over Ratings, who had a nose on third-place Highland Crystal.
The win was the third in 11 starts this year for Plenty of Grace and her second for added money. She took Belmont’s New Yotk Handicap on June 13.
Plenty of Grace covered 1 1/8 miles of turf in 1:46 3-5 to earn $75,960 and return $19.40, $7.20 and $6.80. Ratings was worth $4.60 and $3 and Highland Crystal paid $4.
