COUNTYWIDE : Brush Fire Burns 7 Acres in Canyon
A small brush fire consumed seven grassy acres northwest of Ojai on Saturday before air tankers doused the blaze with 2,000-gallon drops of fire retardant, fire officials said Saturday.
The slow-burning fire broke out in Gridley Canyon behind Ojai at 6:20 p.m., fire officials said. Two air tankers, two helicopters, several county engines and at least two fire crews responded to the fire, which was contained by 8 p.m.
Although there are homes scattered throughout Gridley Canyon, none appeared to be in danger, officials said.
