WHY BOTHER? Frustrated county officials will hold public budget hearings today even though no one knows how much state money will come to the county this year. . . . Even with the state budget logjam in Sacramento, they say a tentative idea of the county’s fiscal picture is better than nothing. “It’s like a family trying to map out their household budget for the next year without even knowing their income,” complains Supervisor Roger R. Stanton.
