TILLAMOOK, Ore. — Tons of hay inside a historic blimp hangar fueled a massive fire that destroyed the structure, officials said.
Hangar A, built during World War II and listed in the Guinness Book of Records as one of the two largest free-span wooden structures in the world, caught fire Saturday and had burned to the ground by Sunday morning.
No one was injured, and the cause of the fire was not known.
