Ram offensive tackle Gerald Perry, who spent more than two months in a Colorado jail last summer for sexual assault, has been sued by an Anaheim woman who contends that he molested her.

Irma Judy Gamez says in a lawsuit filed this month in Orange County Superior Court that she was sexually assaulted by Perry last year, shortly after he hired her to work as a baby-sitter for his children. She contends the 305-pound lineman grabbed her and threatened to “kill her if he didn’t have sex.”

Keith D. Johnson, Perry’s Denver-based agent and attorney, said that he told his client about the lawsuit Thursday and the football player was “incredulous” about the woman’s charges.

Johnson, who said he is not sure if he is going be hired to represent Perry on this matter, confirmed that the woman once worked for Perry as a baby-sitter, but declined to discuss the issue further. “I don’t try cases in the papers,” he said.

Perry was in San Diego Thursday for the Rams’ exhibition game with the Chargers and was unavailable for comment. John Shaw, Ram executive vice president, declined comment through a team spokesman.

A four-year veteran who was traded from the Denver Broncos to the Rams last year, Perry, 27, has been charged nine times with crimes ranging from soliciting a prostitute to sexual assault and alcohol-related offenses. He was convicted twice. On one occasion, he served a 65-day sentence for violating probation on a charge of sexually assaulting the girlfriend of a teammate.
