A 20-year-old man who had stopped at a red light in Pico Rivera was shot to death early Saturday by an unidentified passenger in a passing car, authorities said.
The victim, whose name was not released, was heading east on Beverly Boulevard at Rosemead Boulevard when the shooting occurred shortly after 1 a.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Benita Hinojos.
A bystander who heard the victim’s cries for help attempted to drive him to the hospital, but became lost en route, Hinojos said. Paramedics were called, but the man was pronounced dead of several chest wounds at 2:05 a.m., soon after he arrived at Beverly Hospital in Montebello, the deputy said.
