Litigation Targets Slap Back at SLAPP Suits

As a staunch Republican who has always supported the theory of keeping government out of our personal lives, I was shocked when served personally with a lawsuit by the Transportation Corridor Agency for actively opposing the proposed San Joaquin toll road, which is estimated to dump 40,000 cars a day into San Juan Capistrano. It is ludicrous that a government body would sue anyone who exercises his First Amendment rights to peaceably protest any government action.

There is no question that this suit will be thrown out of court, because it violates the U.S. Constitution; however, I still must hire an attorney to represent me. This is, no doubt, why the Transportation Corridor Agency is pressing the suit.

I understand that 700 other individuals were also served. If we would all join together in a single defense of this suit, we would negate the intent of the TCA and free the already overcrowded court calendar of still more frivolous suits.
