Tarzana Couple Die in Murder-Suicide

A Tarzana man apparently shot his wife to death Saturday before turning the gun on himself, Los Angeles police said.

Dominick M. Devito, 42, and his wife, Beth Ann, 38, were found dead from gunshot wounds inside their apartment at 18449 Collins St., Sgt. Kerry Hunter said. The couple worked as managers of the complex.

Police had gone to the apartment at 9 a.m. after receiving a call that the occupants were acting in a bizarre manner and that they were threatening to kill the apartment owner, whose identity was not released.

When officers knocked on the apartment door they heard two gunshots, Hunter said. The officers took cover and then heard a third shot fired.

A SWAT team was called to the apartment complex, which was evacuated, Hunter said. Authorities fired tear gas at 6 p.m. and then entered the residence. The couple were found in their bedroom.
