School: Saddleback
Sport: Cross-Country
Class: Sophomore
It wasn’t difficult for Hildebrand to establish herself as Saddleback’s top returner, mainly because she was the only one back from last season’s Gaucho team that finished second in the Orange Empire Conference and seventh in Southern California. Hildebrand was third in the conference finals, 13th in Southern California and 33rd in the State meet last season. This season, she quickly earned her place as the team’s No. 1 runner by winning the San Diego Mesa Invitational in 19 minutes 56 seconds. She finished 29 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
Other top performers:
Wendy Griffith, who finished fifth in a time of 19:38 for Orange Coast at the Fresno Invitational.
Laurie Wilson, who scored three goals and had four assists in four games for Cypress in the Bakersfield soccer tournament. Cypress went 4-0 and outscored its opponents, 16-0.
