‘Who’s Who’ of the Arts to Be Showcased

An eclectic grab bag of performing arts, showcasing some of Ventura’s finest talents, will spill out at Art City II’s second annual Equinox party on Saturday.

“Faultline,” the brainchild of Venturans Sophia Kidd and George Keenen, is a cultural conglomeration of original theater, poetry and music.

Keenen referred to the evening’s performers as a sort of “Who’s Who” in the Ventura art scene.

“It’s really the best people we could find,” he said.

On tap are about 10 productions, featuring such local notables as Jeff Kaiser, Jim Connolly, Liz Stuart, the Ventura Area TheatreSports troupe, Spoken Word Ensemble and others.

“There’s a lot going on in Ventura, but not a lot of opportunity for these people to put their things out in this area,” Kidd said. “We’re going to show a great deal of it all in one night for a great evening.”

The final event of the evening could be the most exciting, according to Keenen. Audience members will be invited to the mike to share some of their own poetry.

The craziness begins when event performers begin to interpret the poetry with theatrics and music.

“There’s lots of places to get up and read poetry, but not where you would expect to be joined by musicians and dancers,” he said. “This could be the blowout of the evening.”

The production will commence at 7 p.m. Art City II is at 34 N. Peking St., Ventura.

Admission will be $4. For more information, call 648-5241.
