Readers Call Murray for Double Faults on Edberg and the Irish
Jim Murray, tennis is not your racket. You describe Stefan Edberg as a boring, consistent, percentage-shot player. In your words, “A star, he ain’t.”
Edberg is a courageous champion. He plays an aggressive, offensive, all-court game, advancing to the net at the earliest opportunity. Boring, he is not. Boring describes most of Edberg’s robot opponents who are content to hit endlessly from the baseline, advancing to the net only to pick up their loser’s checks.
