“LOLLAPALOOZA” III?: The money you save on R.E.M. tickets might make a good deposit for “Lollapalooza ‘93” seats.

Yes, “Lollapalooza ‘92” is barely over and already plans are being made for the third annual traveling alternative-rockfest.

Don Muller, the Triad Artists booking agent who has been one of the key figures in the project, said he has already received calls from potential headliners for next year’s tour.

One of the changes next year may be a more varied musical menu. There were complaints this time that there was a “token” rap attraction (Ice Cube) and that it was virtually an all-male lineup.

The tour, which began in late July this year, may be moved to earlier in the summer. “We want to avoid conflicting with kids’ going back to school,” Muller says.

Meanwhile, the seven acts that made up the “Lollapalooza ‘92” lineup are already moving on to their next activities:

The Red Hot Chili Peppers will tour Australia and possibly Japan, but may schedule a Christmastime concert at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. Ministry will start a U.S. headlining tour in October.

Soundgarden is taking time off to write its next album, which will be recorded early next year. The Jesus and Mary Chain begins its own U.S. tour later in the fall. Ice Cube is finishing his next album, “The Predator,” and is starring in the movie “Trespass,” which will be released around Christmas.

Pearl Jam takes a short break, then begins work on the follow-up to its 3-million-selling debut album, “Ten.” Lush has headed back to England for a rest before starting a tour of Australia and Japan in a couple of months.
