GARDEN GROVE : Propane Tanks Kept Cool During Fire

Share

About 15 firefighters extinguished a blaze that broke out Monday morning in a house in the 12000 block of Morgan Lane while keeping a wary eye--and streams of water--on two five-gallon propane containers stored at a travel trailer next door.

The fire, of unknown cause, started in the bedroom of the single-family residence of Martha Infante.

It caused $80,000 in property losses and $20,000 in damage to contents, said fire department spokeswoman Ellen Covey.

The fire department received the alarm at 10:27 a.m. and reported the flames contained at 10:45 a.m.

The two propane containers vented gas vapors because of heat from the flames, Covey said, but were cooled off by fire hoses and did not explode or spread flames to the trailer.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries.
