World chess champion Gary Kasparov is unimpressed by the $5-million rematch between Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky, saying he is certain he could beat Fischer, former world titleholder.

“There are at least 50 grandmasters today who can beat Bobby Fischer,” Kasparov said, interviewed in Barcelona by the Belgrade newspaper Borba. “Fischer is a player of the past.”

Fischer and Spassky resume play in Belgrade today.
