A San Diego man who died after being shot in the chest at 30th Street and Webster Avenue was identified Thursday as 22-year-old Umberto Calderon.
Officers were called about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and told that a passing motorist had taken Calderon to the hospital.
The motorist drove Calderon to San Diego Physicians & Surgeons Hospital at 26th Street and Island Avenue, and paramedics took him from there to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he died, Police Lt. Barbara Harrison said.
Witnesses said Calderon had been arguing with two men about drugs and that the men ran away, one turning and shooting Calderon in the chest.
No suspects were in custody.
