At Least There Are Two Games in Town

Share

When I was in Boston recently, I tuned into a Red Sox game and was heartened to hear Bob Starr doing the play-by-play. I was heartened because I knew that bumbling Bob was an announcer for the Red Sox and this was--thankfully--the only night I’d have to suffer through his inept broadcasting.

But I now hear that bungling Bob is returning as an announcer for the Angels and perhaps the Rams. All I can say is “Arrghh!” I mean, can’t the Angels and KMPC do anything right? They saddle us with nine years of the cliche-ridden whining of Al “Do I Sound Like Vin Scully Yet?” Conin, and how do we get rewarded for our patience? With the hiring of not only an Angel announcing retread, but an insufferable one at that.

Thank goodness the Angels and KMPC aren’t really “the only game in town.” I’ll take the last-place Dodgers and Scully anytime. Heck, I’ll even take the last-place Dodgers and Don Drysdale (yeah, I’ve sunk that low).
