TENNIS ROUNDUP : Another Quick Exit for Borg; McEnroe Wins in Australia
Bjorn Borg’s unsuccessful comeback took another turn for the worse Tuesday when he lost to a 19-year-old French qualifier, Lionel Roux, 6-0, 6-4, in the first round of the $315,000 Toulouse Open at Toulouse, France.
It took only 53 minutes for Roux to defeat Borg, who has not won a set in an ATP tournament during his comeback.

Making what may be his last appearance in Australia, John McEnroe ousted Andrei Olhovskiy, 1-6, 6-2, 6-0, in the second round of the Sydney Indoor tournament.
McEnroe had trouble with his serve and struggled early against the 115th-ranked Russian qualifier.
“I got into a better rhythm as the match went on,” said McEnroe, who could face Stefan Edberg in the quarterfinals.
Also advancing to the round of 16 in the $1.1-million event were No. 2 Goran Ivanisevic, No. 5 Wayne Ferreira and No. 6 Richard Krajicek.

Top-seeded Steffi Graf struggled early before settling down and cruising to a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Czechoslovakia’s Karina Habsudova in the opening round of the $350,000 European Indoors at Zurich, Switzerland.
Other first-round winners included Magdalena Maleeva, Judith Wiesner and Pam Shriver.

Defending champion and top-seeded Sergi Bruguera of Spain breezed past Tassos Bavelas of Greece, 6-2, 6-1, in 53 minutes in the first round of the $130,000 Athens International tournament.
