OLD FRIENDS: County Supervisor Thomas F. Riley was a longtime friend of the late James Roosevelt--they met while both were fighting in the Pacific in World War II. Riley recently agreed to head a drive to raise $500,000 to turn Chapman University’s Founder’s Hall into the James and Mary Roosevelt Hall. It will include a research center and a room for Roosevelt memorabilia. Roosevelt, son of FDR, was a Chapman trustee for 15 years. . . . “He was a hero in my estimation,” Riley says.
