Lee Mayberry, one of the Milwaukee Bucks’ two first-round draft choices, signed a four-year contract as the team opened camp without veteran center Moses Malone, who is in the process of divorce proceedings.
Todd Day, Mayberry’s teammate at Arkansas and the No. 8 pick in last June’s draft, remains unsigned.
The Bucks, however, announced that they had signed rookie free agent Joe Rhett to a one-year contract.
Rhett played at South Carolina and led the Gamecocks in scoring and rebounding in the first 16 games last season. He sat out the final 12 games because of an irregular heartbeat.
The Bucks also announced the signing of four free agents, all to one-year contracts: forward Mike Smith; guard Jim Farmer; guard Steve Thompson, and guard Kevin Williams.
