Texas El Paso Suspends Six Players
Six members of the winless University of Texas El Paso football team have been suspended for breaking curfew the night before the Miners’ 42-24 loss to Colorado State last Saturday.
The players are All-WAC defensive end Ricky Massey, fullbacks Patrick Bailey and Darryl Phillips, and defensive backs Greg Shead, Craig Pringle and Dwight Conley. Massey, Shead and Bailey were starters and the other three saw action against Colorado State.
All six will miss Saturday’s game against San Diego State. Massey also will miss next week’s game against Utah. The players went to a party and were caught by UTEP coaches on their return.
