THOUSAND OAKS : Woman Kidnaped at Teller Machine

Share

Two armed men kidnaped a 60-year-old woman at an automated teller machine in Thousand Oaks on Friday night, forced her to withdraw money from a machine elsewhere, then fled with some of the woman’s personal property, valued at $2,500, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies said.

The woman was not injured in the incident, which began at about 9 p.m. outside the Great Western Bank at 3960 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., deputies said. The woman had just completed a transaction when one of the men demanded money, deputies said.

When she was unable to withdraw funds from that machine, she was forced to drive one of the suspects in her car to the Home Savings of America office in the 100 block of West Hillcrest Drive, deputies said. The second suspect followed in another vehicle.

At that branch, the woman withdrew $350 and gave it to robbers, deputies said. The men took other property from the woman’s car, but deputies did not identify these valuables.

The Thousand Oaks Crime Stoppers Program has offered a $1,000 reward. The program, which allows callers to remain anonymous, can be reached by calling 494-TALK or 656-1500.
