Authorities have arrested two men in the killing of a Burbank man found shot to death in Tarzana, the Los Angeles Police Department said Thursday.

David Thayne Smith, 34, and Daniel Joseph Miller, 46, were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of killing Stefan Sweetser, 23, Detective Rick Swanston said. The men were arrested at the condominium they share in Fountain Valley,

Rangers from the Santa Monica Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority found Sweetser’s body, shot in the head and upper torso, Friday night near Reseda Boulevard and Mulholland Drive, Swanston said. The motive for the shooting appears to have been a falling-out among the three men, who were suspected commercial burglars, Swanston said.

“We think they were upset because he seemed to be getting larger proceeds than the other two partners,” Swanston said.

Authorities have seized an estimated $75,000 in computers, printers, copying machines and other business equipment from four locations, including a storage facility in Huntington Beach, the three men’s residences and a business the men operated, Visions Windows & Doors in the 2900 block of West Magnolia Boulevard in Burbank, Swanston said.

Authorities have been unable to locate Sweetser’s family, Swanston said.

“He had about 10 aliases, so we’re not even sure that Sweetser is even his real name,” Swanston said. “But most of the people we have talked to so far knew him as Stefan Sweetser.”

Smith and Miller are scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on murder charges.
