OJAI : Bird Droppings on Wires Start Blaze
Bird droppings that fell onto power lines touched off a 106-acre brush fire Friday that took firefighters about five hours to contain, county fire officials said.
The blaze, reported at 7 a.m., burned heavy chaparral on Sulphur Mountain south of Ojai before it was contained at noon, fire dispatcher Chris Peterson said. No structures were threatened, she said.
About 360 firefighters in 20 engines were called to fight the fire.
