I am sick of Peter Navarro’s relentless “developer bashing.” His campaign blames this industry for all of San Diego’s problems. Doesn’t he realize how developers enhance the economic climate?

Developers create hundreds of jobs: construction, subcontractors, electricians, cabinet makers, installers, architects, landscaping, maintenance, window washers, security guards, property managers. Developers purchase huge quantities of marble, granite, glass and concrete. And, when new tenants move in they hire interior designers; they rent or buy office furniture, plants and new telephone systems. Tenants also hire employees, print new stationery and business forms. The list and “trickle down” effect of jobs is endless. This also holds true for residential development as well.

Navarro has created a campaign reminiscent of a “witch hunt.” If he gets elected, he won’t have to worry about developers in this city. They will take their business, and the jobs that go with it, elsewhere.
