PRO FOOTBALL: DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Loss Doesn’t Leave Them Down or Out

Don’t look for the Raiders to give up hope for the playoffs after Sunday’s 28-13 loss to Dallas, Coach Art Shell said.

“I think that they bounced back in their minds after they watched film of the game,” Shell said. “I think that they realized that it will take a few days to go over things that hurt us in the football game. They still are pretty upbeat about our football team.”

The Raiders have a bye this week before playing at Philadelphia on Nov. 8. One player who should be in the lineup after being on the injured reserve list is offensive lineman Max Montoya.

As the NFL season moves past its midway point, the Raiders hold the distinction of being one of the league’s worst teams in the turnover department.

The Raiders have turned the ball over 20 times, with 11 fumbles and nine interceptions. What makes this area stand out even more is that they have forced an AFC-low nine turnovers.

Overall, the Raiders are next to last in the league with a minus-11 differential in the take aways/give-aways department.

Wide receiver Tim Brown leads the AFC in yards per catch with a 22.5 average. Brown, who has 16 catches for 360 yards, also leads the AFC in punt return yardage with 249 in 22 returns. Defensive end Anthony Smith leads the AFC in sacks with nine.
