COLLEGE FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : UCLA : Walker, Fien Won’t Make Trip to Cal
Quarterbacks Rob Walker (sprained ankle) and Ryan Fien (hip injury) won’t make the trip to Berkeley for Saturday’s game against California, leaving the Bruins with only two quarterbacks.
John Barnes, a transfer from UC Santa Barbara, will make his second start of the season and and Scott Fitterer, a freshman from Kennedy High in Seattle, will serve as Barnes’ backup.
Also staying behind are tailback Kevin Williams (pulled hamstring), nose guard Sale Isaia (sprained ankle) and linebackers Jamir Miller (sprained ankle) and Brian Tighe (rotator cuff).
Linebacker Shane Jasper, who has missed the last three games with a sprained knee, will make the trip.
UCLA, which ranked fourth in scoring in the Pac-10 last season with a 28.8 average, is tied for last with Oregon State with a 16.6 average this season. . . . Cal wide receiver Sean Dawkins, who leads the conference in receptions, suffered a sprained ankle in last week’s 24-17 loss to Arizona but hopes to play against UCLA Saturday. . . . Cal tailback Russell White has rushed for 246 yards and three touchdowns in two games against UCLA.
