Bottles Hit Auto; 2 Suspects Arrested

Share

A 23-year-old man and a teen-ager were arrested Friday after they threw beer bottles at a car, believing it belonged to a rival gang, police said.

The car happened to be an unmarked police cruiser.

The incident occurred at 8:40 p.m. when gang unit detectives of the La Habra police were on their way to investigate a report of a gang-related fight. At Euclid Street and Keene Drive, a car drove up, and a passenger threw beer bottles at the detectives’ car, said Sgt. Bob Wyse.

The two suspects were stopped by a patrol unit a short time later.

“Subsequent investigation revealed that they thought the plainclothes detectives were actually rival gang members,” Wyse said.
